Better Every Day boxes were built for sneakers first, but the same clear shell and two magnetic doors, one on the front and one on the side, make them just as useful for handbags and other accessories. Here is how to set up a shelf or closet that works for bags as well as shoes.
Each box ships flat and assembles by hand in a few minutes, no tools needed, the same as it does for sneakers. That makes it easy to build a few extra boxes any time your bag collection grows, without waiting on glue or screws.
Why clear boxes work for bags
A closet full of boxes is only useful if you can tell what is inside without opening every one. Because the shell is clear, every bag stays visible on the shelf, so you can see color, shape and size at a glance instead of guessing or pulling boxes down to check.
The two doors matter just as much as the clear shell. If your bag is in the middle of a stack, the front door lets you open that one box without touching the ones above or below it, and the side door does the same thing if your shelf only gives you side access. Either way, you reach the bag you want without unstacking the rest.
Up off the floor and out of a pile, bags stay easier to find and easier to keep neat, especially if you are working with a smaller closet or an open shelf that is on display in the room.
Will your bag fit?
Measure your bag before you order. The Clear Stackable Shoe Storage Boxes with Front & Side Magnetic Doors measure 14.37 in (L) x 10.62 in (W) x 8.75 in (H). Those are the outer dimensions of the assembled box, and the inside is slightly smaller once the panels and doors are in place, so leave a little room between your bag and the walls of the box rather than measuring to the exact edge.
Structured or boxy bags, and anything taller than a standard tote, are better suited to The Bigger Box, which measures 15 in x 11.5 in x 10 in and includes a removable divider. If you are not sure which size to pick, measure your bag's longest side, width and height at its tallest point, then compare both sizes above before you buy.
If a bag is a close call on paper, test it before you commit to a pack size. Set the bag on a flat surface and compare its footprint and height by eye against both sets of measurements above, since an odd strap or hardware placement can change how a bag sits even when the overall dimensions are close.

Keep its shape with tissue
Bags can slump or lose their shape when they sit empty for a while. Before you put a bag on the shelf, stuff it loosely with acid free tissue paper, the same way you would pack it for travel. It holds the bag's structure, keeps straps and handles from folding at odd angles, and makes the bag easier to recognize through the clear sides.
Group bags by how you use them
Once you have more than a few bags in boxes, group them by use instead of by color or size. A simple split works for most closets: the bag you reach for daily, the bags you save for going out, and the bags you only use when you travel. Keep the daily bag at eye level or waist height so it is the easiest box to open, and put travel bags on a lower or higher shelf since you only need them a few times a year.
Mixing bags and sneakers on one wall
You do not need a separate wall for bags. Clear boxes stack the same way whether they hold shoes or handbags, so a single wall can hold both as long as you plan around the doors. Put bags you need less often in the middle rows, and use the side door to reach them instead of lifting boxes off the top of the stack. Sneakers and daily bags work well on the rows you access through the front door, since those stay the easiest to reach.
This works especially well if you are already building a sneaker wall and want bags in the mix rather than stored separately. Since every box looks the same from the outside, color and shape are what visually separate a row of bags from a row of sneakers, not the box itself.
Smaller pieces and clutches
Clutches, small crossbodies and other accessories do not need a full box to themselves. The Bigger Box's removable divider splits the inside into two shelves, so you can store two smaller pieces, one above the other, in the space one bag would normally take up. It is an easy way to fit more into the same wall without buying extra boxes.
